An Introduction to Hegel's Lectures on the Philosophy of Religion

Úvod k Hegelovým prednáškam o filozofii náboženstva
Abstrakt
The work presents an introduction to Hegel's religious thought against the background of the main religious trends of the time to which he responded – especially the Enlightenment and Romanticism. It analyses the criticism of religion by key Enlightenment thinkers such as Voltaire, Lessing, Hume and Kant. It then examines how Romantic thinkers such as Rousseau, Jacobi and Schleiermacher responded to this challenge. According to Hegel, the approaches of thinkers of both schools of thought led to religion losing its content. The aim of Hegel's philosophy of religion was to restore this lost content. The monograph examines Hegel's Lectures on the Philosophy of Religion in detail, with special attention to the problem of the content of religious belief. It concludes that the basic ideas of the Enlightenment and Romanticism are still present today and pose a challenge to academics and non-academics alike, regardless of their religious orientation.
