The aim of the book is to philosophically examine the dynamics of the emergence and course of conflict and to point out how conflict can be de-escalated based on a conscious grasp of one's own existence. The principle of humanity plays a key role in this process. The basis of the reflection are the suggestions of thinkers who worked in the intellectual paradigms of the philosophy of existence and the conservative revolution, such as S. Kierkegaard, M. Buber, M. Heidegger, C. Schmitt and E. Jünger. The common denominator of their thinking is the interpretation of existence as a given and a task. The book focuses on the second moment, when existence takes place as a self-formation of the individual and the collective. It includes a conscious relationship to the enemy, with the goal of overcoming specific hostility. The principle of humanity brings into the political sphere an emphasis on the anthropological equality of the participants in the conflict. It creates the basis for the application of a systematic limitation of hostility, which, through clear distinctions and rules, prevents the degradation of the opponent and the absolutization of hostility. Existential self-formation allows the individual to apply this principle as a remedy against mass propaganda that discriminates against the enemy. The possibility of consciously choosing one's existence does not disappear even in moments of intense leveling. Part of such a choice is rootedness in basic existential relationships, and its key expression is humanity.
