Etnos a polis

Ethnos and polis
Abstrakt
The subject of research interest is the national-political ideas of Slovak scholars, nationalists and intellectuals: Štěpan Launer, Ľudovít Štúr, Michal Mudroň, Miloš Štefanovič, Samuel Štefanovič, the ideological-political impact of the magazine Prúdy, as well as the myth-making reinvention of the Štúr-Hurbanov national narrative in the political essays of Vladimír Mináč and, last but not least, the anti-totalitarian civic-political reflections of Dominik Tatarka and the reflections of Ľubomír Lipták on the topic of Slovak philosophy of history. Based on a descriptive analysis of period source material, this is an innovative interpretation of the history of Slovak political thought in many respects through the concepts of romantically tuned national conservatism and anti-romantic political modernism, which also includes a characterization of types of nationalist political action.
