O bytí bez subjektu
On being without a subject
Abstrakt
In the book, the author examines the questions raised by Levinas's concept of is (il y a) and proposes a possible solution to them. Levinas's attribution of a negative tonality to is predetermined his entire work. In his book, Róbert Karul questions this attribution of the negative. Levinas presents is as pure being or being without being, being in its verbality. However, when examining the content of is in the descriptions presented, the author discovers structures of hypostasis (protosubject) and identity that were supposed to be abandoned by the emergence of is. He concludes from this, on the one hand, that the negative mood of horror is not connected with the "unlimitedness" of pure being, but rather with the finitude of hypostasis, and on the other hand, that this horror is not the horror of being, but the anxiety of death. Pure being itself is lost to us, because under its name Levinas, without realizing it, understands hypostasis.
