Abstrakt
Barbora Geistová Čakovská's monograph deals with the interesting issue of synonymy. It is a topic that moves between the philosophy of language, semantics, philosophical logic and linguistics. There is a lot of literature devoted to this problem in the world, but a monograph with a similar focus is absent in Slovakia. Therefore, it can only be welcomed that we finally have a comprehensive and well-processed study of this important linguistic phenomenon. It is especially worth noting that the author approaches synonymy not only from the perspective of the philosophy of language (or more precisely, semantics), but also from the perspective of linguistics. That is why she devotes a significant part of the monograph to the definition and distinction of the concepts of synonymy in semantics and linguistics. This fact should be appreciated, because in this way a number of misunderstandings and pseudo-problems can be avoided.
