Lexicon of Upper Hungarian School Philosophy
Abstrakt
The lexicon of school philosophy in Upper Hungary is, on the one hand, an expansion and replacement of the author's previous book (Philosophy in Hungary, Kalligram, 2000), and on the other hand, a contribution to the history of culture. It deals with a previously neglected area, the nature of school philosophy, its representatives and their works. Despite the fact that until the 19th century, philosophy "in sensu scholastico" was almost the only way of appearing in Hungary, and in this form played a decisive role in the history of culture, it has not been explored in detail so far. This book is the first such undertaking. The lexicon section, following the analytical introduction, provides a comprehensive picture in 528 entries of the history of schools in Upper Hungary, the state and denominational curricula that determined the teaching of philosophy, and the work of philosophy teachers from the end of the 16th century to 1918.
