"Since my youth I have worked as a historian of philosophy, dealing with Slovak and European philosophy, especially the Enlightenment. I have published the results in many studies and in several books. However, when I came into contact with some philosophers of the past, something more personal remained with me, which I did not write down at the time. I am addressing some of it to them now. I have chosen the form of a letter to address them. It is not new in philosophy. Letters were already written by Plato, Epicurus, Seneca, Pascal and many others. However, while these authors also taught their addressees, I am far from teaching Plato, Voltaire or Popper. However, I have reservations about some of their opinions, and I present them to them. In letters, one can be more personal, more confidential, the style can be freer, one can say all sorts of things that do not fit into a study. I use this opportunity and write primarily about problems that affect me personally, even essentially, that have accompanied and burned me for decades and that have not even been solved. These Letters do not solve them. Perhaps, however, they will find a response in some readers. They are not just my personal problems, but they are problems of centuries and millennia." Teodor Münz
