Nationalists and citizens: On Slovak political thought in the 19th century
Abstrakt
In the presented collection of articles, published in magazines and anthologies during the last years, the author analyzes Slovak political thought in the 19th century. In his work, he bases his work on the study of nationalist texts. What did the popular strata think, which the nationalists, according to Vajanský, embodying the pars pro toto nation, wanted to transform into an internally coherent, self-conscious collectivity, think is a question that is still waiting for an answer. It requires a different heuristic approach, because the people - the common people did not express themselves through the press and literary forms. In the publication, he discusses the ideas of four nationalists: Ján Kollár, Ján Palárik, Jonáš Záborský and Ľudovít Štúr.
