Kapitoly z dejín slovenského myslenia

Chapters from the history of Slovak thought
Abstrakt
These are chapters on the work of Czech philosophers and Czech philosophy in Slovakia (Part 1), on the scientistic initiative in the development of Slovak science and philosophy in the decade 1937-1948 (Part 2) and finally on the issue of nation, nationalism and culture (Part 3). They offer an intimate but also comprehensive view of the typical problems of Slovak thought in the first half of the 20th century - from the hlásists to the demise of the generational group association of the Society for Scientific Synthesis. They end with the "unification" of thought (scientific synthesis, as the scientists sincerely wanted to believe after February 1948), when Slovak thought gradually, but without hesitation, retreated "from the path" in the classical forms of open pluralism of opinions, dialogue and an era of camouflaged thinking under the guise of Marxist-Leninist rhetoric began. (Ján Koška) I consider V. Bakoš's work to be a valuable contribution to the understanding and interpretation of the forms of modern Slovak thought and culture. In many ways, this work is also extremely topical and very necessary in today's political and cultural situation, because in the very issue it addresses, we commit many literally harmful simplifications.
