Milan Hodža: Modern theoretician, pragmatic politician
Abstrakt
Among the figures who, through their theoretical and practical political work, left a significant mark on the world of socio-philosophical thought (and not only in it) in Slovakia at the turn of the century and in the first half of our century, is Milan Hodža (1878-1944). Milan Hodža was a truly modern politician of European stature, a journalist, theorist, socio-philosophically oriented thinker and political scientist. During the years of both totalitarian regimes that Slovakia has gone through in the last fifty years, his contribution to national culture was programmatically eliminated, not accepted and, at best, marginalized. "Only critical" analyses of his work were accessible, which was ultimately the fate of most significant figures who "did not fit" into the edited history, and which in reality represented the only official possibility of publishing and discussing the basic ideas of his theoretical production.
