Abstrakt
The collective monograph Radical Philosophy (2026), edited by Peter Daubner, addresses the long-standing absence of a comprehensive publication mapping the historical roots, key theoretical traditions, and contemporary forms of radical thought within the Slovak and Czech academic environments. The presented work offers an interdisciplinary and pluralistic perspective on the issue of radicality, focusing on the specific relationship between theory and practice. In this interpretation, philosophy is not merely an object of neutral academic inquiry but becomes an active part of broader social struggles over the forms of emancipation, democracy, justice, equality, and ecological sustainability.
A central conceptual framework of several contributions is the concept of the Anthropocene (and its critical Marxist modification, the Capitalocene), which fundamentally re-evaluates the position of humanity on Earth and reveals the environmental and civilizational limits of global capitalism. The book traces the evolutionary trajectory from postmodern deconstruction to the reconstruction of socially significant values and concepts (such as justice and truth). The research spectrum is further enriched by chapters exploring the possibilities of philosophical intervention into the sphere of everyday thinking through Gramsci's philosophy of praxis, alongside posthumanist and transhumanist deconstructions of the traditional understanding of humanism, subjectivity, and social space. The collective of authors also provides original reconstructions of the intellectual heritage of key historical and philosophical figures, including George Orwell, Peter Kropotkin, Alfred North Whitehead, and Moses Dobruška.
