A new Central European Centre for Women and Young People in Science has been established

Its aim is to monitor the situation of women and young people in science and research in the Central European region.

The CES-WYS (Central European Centre for Women and Youth in Science, CEC-WYS, 2004-2006) project was created with the professional and financial support of the European Commission in order to improve the conditions for gender and age equality, or parity in this specific area. In addition to running a website with up-to-date European and national subject information, the centre will also provide access to a database of women experts, including the expert database of the European Commission. The international team consists of representatives of scientific institutions of the new EU Member States (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovakia), a representative of an associated country (Romania) and two representatives of the original Member States (France, Italy).

The working group of Slovak women scientists is led by Prof. Tatiana Sedová, Vice-President of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, an employee of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. The task of the participants from the Slovak Republic will be (in addition to providing up-to-date national data) to develop a manual for the application and measurement of individual indicators of gender equality in science and research, applicable to many stakeholders. The Slovak team will provide more detailed information about the project and its accompanying and final results and findings on the website.
