The seminar Analysis in Philosophy: Logic, Semantics, Metaphysics, Epistemology was organized on October 27, 2017 by the Institute of Philosophy of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, Department of Analytical Philosophy. It opens cooperation between the Slovak Academy of Sciences and the University of Vienna, based on joint seminars, exchanges and cooperation between doctoral students.
Na seminári odznelo osem prednášok: Dan Zeman (University of Vienna) – Multiple Indexing Relativism; Marián Zouhar (SAV) – Non-Doxastic Disagreement about Taste and Requisites; Miloš Kosterec (SAV) – New paradox for TIL?; Tom Fery (University of Vienna) – The Apparent Self-Refutation of Equal Weight; Robin McKenna (University of Vienna) – Epistemological Consequences of Cultural Cognition; Delia Belleri (University of Vienna) – Easy Ontology: Semantic and Epistemic Challenges; Martin Vacek (SAV) – Fiction: Indispensable! a Zsofia Zvolenszky (SAV) – Authors’ Error and the Real Foundation of Fictional Worlds. Po každej prednáške sa rozprúdila rozsiahla diskusia.
As the titles of the individual papers indicate, the main topic of the workshop was the logical and methodological intersections of the presented topics. At the Institute of Philosophy of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, they are implemented in the VEGA project Fictionalism in Science and Philosophy, at the University of Vienna in the ERC project The Emergence of Relativism. Both projects belong to the same, analytically oriented philosophical tradition and the discussions brought original impulses for the further direction of the discipline, for the staffing of projects and for the forms of presentation of scientific results.
The next meeting is scheduled for spring 2018 at the University of Vienna.
