Authors of top publications received awards

This year, the Presidium of the SAS also evaluated successful scientists who published the results of their work in scientific journals of extraordinary prestige. By annually awarding top publications, it wants to stimulate and appreciate the international visibility of research in the Slovak Academy of Sciences. The awards were presented by the President of the Slovak Academy of Sciences prof. Pavel Šajgalík and the Vice-President of the SAS for Science, Research and Innovation were received on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at the Small Congress Center of the SAS VEDA Publishing House

Publishing in top publications is something like a successful product of the company and it confirms to us that the Slovak Academy of Sciences does not lag behind compared to similar institutions in neighboring countries,” said the President of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, Prof. Pavol Šajgalík, in his speech. “With each publication, the SAS enters the international scene, which allows its scientists to become part of great discoveries – regardless of whether it is in the field of social sciences, natural sciences or technology.” At the end of his speech, the President thanked not only all the awardees “who raise the reputation of the SAS with this activity”, but also those who came up with the idea of awarding and thus motivating scientists publishing in top publications, and especially highlighted the work of the Vice-President of the SAS, Peter Samuely. He also addressed the attendees and reminded that the SAS analysis was at the origin of this idea seven years ago. “It has been confirmed to us that the SAS keeps up with the surrounding institutions. The fact that we manage to motivate scientists in this way proves that publication in top publications is also included in the implementation of performance contracts,” said Prof. Peter Samuel, Vice-President of the SAS for Science, Research and Innovation.
