The Institute of Philosophy of the Slovak Academy of Sciences would like to inform you that on May 7 and 8, 2026, the XXI annual international conference for doctoral students and young scientists “Young Philosophy 2026” will be held at our institute.
Philosophy is one of the most diverse disciplines. Thanks to its openness, it is constantly able to respond and reflect not only on its own problems, but also on those coming from other areas. In addition to this interdisciplinary inclination, philosophy is also characterized by the accessibility of its fundamental questions and topics, which can be explored even outside of strictly scientific (or rather academic) research.
The aim of the Young Philosophy 2026 conference with the theme “On the Border of the Art of Philosophy and the Philosophy of Art” is to reflect on and celebrate this multifaceted nature of philosophy, which, despite its long tradition, still makes it a living scientific discipline relevant in the modern world. We therefore invite the conference participants to ask themselves the question: “How to learn the art of philosophy?” and offer different perspectives on what the art of philosophizing was, is, or can be. We also want to ask ourselves the question: “In what forms can philosophy be encountered?”, with the intention of pointing out its ability to lend its content to various, especially artistic, forms.
Please send your application for the conference with an abstract suitable for a 20-minute presentation (max. 300 words) to mlada.filozofia@savba.sk no later than 6 April 2026. We accept abstracts in Slovak, Czech and English. We will inform you about the results of the abstract review process no later than 13 April 2026.
The keynote speaker of the conference will be Maciej Kałuža (Cracow University of Economics).
