The Institute of Philosophy of the Slovak Academy of Sciences invites you to an international workshop entitled “Cosmopolitanism and Tianxia”, which will take place on September 3, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the premises of the institute, in conference room no. 94 on the 4th floor (Klemensova 19, Bratislava).
The paper entitled “The Idea of Liangzhi-Rooted Cosmopolitanism: A Confucian Way to Resolve the Hazards of Ethnocentrism” will be presented by Professor Roy Tseng (Center for Political Thought, Research Center for Humanities and Social Sciences, Academia Sinica).
And the contribution entitled “On the philosophical-anthropological tension between (Confucian) Cosmopolitanism and Tianxia (all under heaven) Theory” will be presented by the trio Chen-Yu Ko, Ming-cong Shen and Chia-Hung Huang.
The workshop is being prepared as part of the international project entitled “Cosmopolitanism and Tianxia: Toward the Shared Grounds of Mutually Beneficial and Respectful Understanding in Global Political Thought (SAS-NSTC-JRP-2025-07)”.
