The Institute of Philosophy of the Slovak Academy of Sciences – Department of Normativity and Human Rights Research invites the professional and general public to a thematic event dedicated to the issue of instrumentalization of human rights in the context of the Balkans, which will take place on Monday, October 20, 2025 in the premises of the Central Library of the Slovak Academy of Sciences.

10:00 – Lecture

Instrumentalization of Human Rights in the Context of Balkan Agenda

Lea David, PhD. (University College Dublin)

In her lecture, the renowned expert will focus on the ways in which human rights are used as a political and social tool in the post-war and post-conflict processes in the Balkans.

13:30 – Workshop

The afternoon workshop will discuss the broader context of the “Balkan Agenda” and current approaches to the issue of normativity and human rights.
