
The Institute of Philosophy of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAS), public research institution, will hold a one-day symposium on 24 April 2026 marking the 100th anniversary of the birth of two prominent figures in research on the history of Slovak philosophy—Elena Várossová and Teodor Münz. The event will take place in the meeting room of the Institute of Philosophy SAS at Klemensova 19 in Bratislava.

The symposium “Contributions and Reflections on the Philosophical Thought of Elena Várossová and Teodor Münz” is a scholarly event focused on reflecting on their philosophical legacy and methodological approaches to research on the history of Slovak philosophy. It is also held in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Institute of Philosophy SAS (1946–2026).
Thematic focus
The programme is structured into four blocks and provides space for presentations and discussion. Contributions address, in particular, Münz’s philosophical legacy and work with materials from his estate, methodological issues in the historiography of Slovak philosophy, and interpretations of selected themes from Elena Várossová’s work, including her approaches to the history of philosophy and the philosophy of history. Discussion segments follow each block.
