The Slovak Academy of Sciences handed out its most prestigious awards today

On Thursday, June 27, 2024, the most prestigious awards for scientists and teams – the SAS Awards for 2023 – were presented at the SAS Congress Centre at Smolenice Castle. The Academy awards these awards annually on the occasion of the anniversary of its founding. With these awards, the SAS honours personalities and the best scientific results that have been achieved in a given year. The evaluation also emphasizes research with a significant international overlap.

“The history of the SAS Awards dates back to the middle of the last century. Since then, the perception of science has changed. Today, society is increasingly aware that life in the 21st century forces us to rethink our attitudes and realize the importance of science for both social and technological growth. The SAS covers all scientific disciplines, each of which has its place in society. I am glad that today, as every year, we have a lot to choose from when we appreciate the best results of our scientists,” said the President of the SAS, Prof. Pavol Šajgalík.

The awards were received by exceptional personalities of science in four categories. We succeeded in these:
